About PLPA

We are an organisation that’s based on people and their success needs.

An organisation of legal practitioners in Polokwane that caters for its members’ professional needs and the profession. We are committed to helping our clients succeed. The PLPA has safeguarded the legal profession and ensured that our members may practice in an environment commensurate with the years of study and financial sacrifices they endured to become members of this esteemed profession.  The PLPA has done this by regular formal interaction with court officials, deeds offices, municipalities, Masters Offices, Government Ministries, CIPC and the like at the highest levels.

Our role over and above what is contained in our objectives in the Constitution include amongst others the following: to protect and champion the interests of practitioners and to conscientise our members of our individual and collective responsibilities to be ethical and remaining fit and proper. To be in the forefront of continuous education or training, defending and representing the profession where necessary.

Our members enjoy the reduced rates during seminars, receiving weekly high court rolls days before at the comfort of their offices, receiving material and information that empowers and prepares them for diligent service, audience and platforms with relevant stake holders vital for the profession amongst others.

We have no source of income except for the membership and annual subscriptions which assist in running the programs of the association. We have presence on social platforms and online. We have been allocated a chamber at the high court 4th floor for all our activities at no costs to the association.

The objectives of the Association are the following:

  • to co-operate with the Law Society of South Africa, Legal Practice Council and Limpopo Provincial Council.
  • to watch and advance the interests of the legal profession;
  • to establish closer relations and associations among members of the legal profession;
  • to foster legal studies
  • to co-operate with other associations or societies;
  • to mediate between members and adjust and settle differences between them, whenever called upon to do so by members;
